Grateful Heart: My Kids!

Good Morning!! I don't know about where you are here, but here it is gloomy, gloomy, gloomy. It has been raining all morning, and mix that with some thunder, lets just say it has been hard to get going! I just want to lay in bed and sleep! ;)
Since it's so gloomy I am glad I can put my focus on what I am grateful for. We had a great Easter weekend. We had a few bumps in the road but overall it was good. We were all together and that is what matters.

I am so grateful for my kids and what they bring to each Holiday! Well, let me rephrase that, what they bring to each day!! I stand in awe of them on a daily basis. I know without a doubt that God uses my boys to teach me things all the time, and this is what I am truly grateful for.

Saturday I got so upset..Let me set the stage for you. Ok, so if you know me then you know that I am bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my kids dressing for Holidays (every day not so much, I mean they are kids and get clothes super dirty), but for some reason, I LOVE to get us all dressed up on Holidays! Maybe it's the fact that I don't have a little girl, so I take this opportunity to match all of us! So anyways, I have had the boys outfits for about 2 months. It was an easy peasy thing this year. I found the white button downs, navy pants and bow ties in about 20 minutes, Matthew already had this in his closet, so it was a very stress free shopping trip for the BOYS. Enter the mom...I seriously never dreamed I would have a problem finding a dress I liked. Wrong...I have searched and searched..Saturday on our way home, I decided to stop in Jonesboro to see if I could find a last minute dress. I found one that was ok, but wasn't sure about the color.  We get home and I start getting all the clothes out, my dress did not match at all and when I tried it on, I immediately thought, "What was I thinking?" So on to every dress in my closet! 30 minutes goes by, and I am crying...I have put on a few pounds and nothing fits like it use too... I really had no clue Jagger was paying attention because he and Hudson were playing with tractors. He walks in the bedroom very calm and looks at me with a blue dress on and says, "Mommy, I like that dress. You look so pretty but remember Easter is not about a dress." (I'm crying right now as I type it)...Enter the major water works....Ok God, you just used my 6 year old to slap me in the face!!! I instantly repented of my selfishness. How selfish of me to be having a pity party over what I am wearing when this day is not about me! It's about the most wonderful thing that ever happened in history. The Resurrection of our Savior.. What an amazing thing, and here I am crying over material things!!
I am oh so grateful for this 6 year old little boy who keeps me in line!!

Linking up with Emily @ Ember Grey!

Hope everyone has a blessed day!
Lots of love..

  2. I cried as I was reading this even though you had already shared this with me. What an amazing testimony this is and also how you are an amazing momma because that's what your sweet boy had on his mom. We all fall short of the glory of God sometime and it's so good to be reminded in ways that are unimaginable. I am so glad you shared this here! Happy Monday sweet friend!
