Baby It's Cold Outside!!

Oh my word! Its officially winter here in the Bootheel! It is so cold we have the heater running and we are still bundled up in fleece pj's!  It has been a great day to stay home and do nothing! I can't actually do nothing, so I have come up with a few "cold day, stuck in the house" things to do!
For Hudson: what child doesn't like ice, water, and kitchen utensils???

This kept him entertained for awhile so I could fold laundry! Laundry! Boring...not what I really want to do on a day I am suppose to be doing nothing!

Once the laundry got folded, I thought it would be a good opportunity to get caught up on some blog reading! I have so many that I love to read that sometimes I get behind! I am so happy that I finally got caught and then I even had a chance to do some Christmas browsing! Our family has been talking more about Christmas lists! Whats on your Christmas list?? It has really had me thinking....Some years its easy to find things and then other years nothing really catches my eye! I have found a few things that will possibly make it to the list!!
Happy Everything Platter....I think these are so darn cute!
Kendra Scott necklace....I love how these can add a pop of color to any outfit!
Glamglow- I have been seeing great reviews on this and would really like to try it!!
Do you have any wants on your Christmas list?
Hope everyone has a blessed day!
Lots of love..

Stuff!

Stuff!! Do you ever feel like you have too much stuff? This is where I am now. I feel like our family has too much "stuff" and we are too focused on "stuff". Stuff, material things, objects, clothes, shoes, toys, or whatever you want to call it, I think we can get lost in it if we are not careful!
This morning I woke up and decided it was time to get a hold on some of this stuff. I mean really, why do I need 5 mixing bowls? Why do we need 20 towels? Just gives me more laundry!  Why do my kids needs toys, and toys, and more toys! They don't even know what they have! It makes me very sad that we have turned into this family that thinks we need all this stuff!
Matthew was off work today so I thought this would be the best time to tackle this problem. Matthew worked on his closet while Jagger and I worked on all the toys! I was so proud of him. He was very willing to go through the toys and start getting rid of them. I think he realized some of the stuff he had out grown and it was time to pass along! After the toys, I moved on to the kitchen and hall closet! I was amazed at each area, and ashamed at the same time. Here we are a family of 4 and we have more than some families will have in a lifetime. It really opened my eyes to what I am teaching my kids. I don't want them growing up thinking that they have to have a house full of stuff to be happy! Less is more! ;) I would much rather my kids be willing to give to others than continue to fill our house with things that bring temporary happiness! It took us several hours to finish but once we were done it was like a weight was automatically lifted. It felt so good knowing what all we were getting rid of..

the pictures do no justice!!! ;) I was very proud of my family! After our "purge" we all went to Wal-Mart for some grocery shopping! Jagger was not excited about this. He really wasn't happy when he figured out he was not getting anything. His response, "but mom, I gave all my stuff away".  Oh my.. I guess I have not done the best job about teaching my son that we don't give our stuff away to get more!

When we came home from Wal-Mart, I had a family project for us to work on.  Our family is doing something different this year. We are not putting up anything Christmas until after Thanksgiving. This is very hard because everyone is starting to put up Christmas decorations, but I am holding on strong. I was talking to my good friend Stephne, who told me about a project her family was doing for Thanksgiving. I knew immediately this was what we needed to do. Enter the Thankful Tree...
Every day we will put leaves (our hands) on the tree. Each leaf has something that we are thankful for. By Thanksgiving our tree should be completely full! I think this will be something we do every year!

Hope everyone has a blessed night!
Lots of love..

I Am!

* I am a mom that feels broken and pushed to my limits! There are days here lately I just want to cry..How many times to do I have to tell my kids no? I just want my kids to act love God, and have manners! Is that too much to ask for?

*I am a wife that loves my husband, but why are there days that marriage seems so hard?

*I am a sinner! Thank you God for your forgiveness, mercy and grace!

*I am proud of my life, mistakes and all. I wouldn't change anything because it has made me who I am today!

*I am a coffee lover! I drink too much and I am not sure when this happened?? Morning, Noon and night! And I can still sleep :)

* I am a woman that loves God and hates this world (except for the cute shoes it provides). I hate all the yucky in this world, and I can't wait for the day I will be in Heaven.

* I am one that gets something on my mind and can't let it go!! I really struggle with this at times, and it takes a lot of prayer to let it go!

*I am the one who wants to put my Christmas tree up right now, but I was really sadden when Jagger ask me what a pilgrim was?? What?? This blew my mind. I grew up in a time when we would have Thanksgiving feasts at school. We would dress up in pilgrim outfits made of paper! Does anyone remember this?? I have always loved Thanksgiving and I want my children to know what Thanksgiving is about. This year we are not putting up anything Christmas until we rightfully celebrate this wonderful holiday! Call me crazy? Maybe, but I can't stand to see this holiday pushed to the side!

*I am guilty of spoiling my kids and buying them things all the time! I am really starting to regret this because now they EXPECT things. I want them to learn to appreciate things and not expect things!

*I am crazy about food!! I think about it a lot! I need something else to think about....and I really like food that is bad for me!

I am Megan Marie Cohn. Wife, mommy, daughter, friend, foodie, blogger, and most of all child of God!

Hope everyone has a blessed day!
Lots of love..

That Day!

Today has been "that day"! When I wake up in the mornings, I always pray that my day will go smoothly and that I will always feel God's presence with me. Today was THAT day none of this happened. It didn't matter what I did- prayed, sang songs of praise, read scripture....nope it wasn't happening! Do you ever have days like this or is it just me??
My sweet Hudson has not been so sweet here lately! For some reason he has turned into some child that I don't recognize. I swear at times, I think where has my child gone. He goes from precious to almost evil (that word may be a little harsh but you know what I mean) in two seconds flat! If he doesn't get his way, at times it looks like we need to call in a exorcism...Falls on the floor, rolls around, stiffens his back and legs, hits himself in the head, throws things...Its crazy! We never had to deal with this when Jagger was a baby, so this is a whole new ballgame for me! and a tough one at that!
Here is how our whole day went....
ALL DAY until he finally passed out in mid sentence, but then when he woke up it started all over! (and by the way, in this video I had just told him no to a 2nd Reese's!!)  I wanted to sit down and cry, but oh no, I was too busy picking up the chicken he smeared in the carpet, and the milk that spilled everywhere when he threw his cup!! ;)Today was THAT day. If I was a drinker, I would be ending  this  day with a big tall glass of wine, but since I don't drink I will just end it like this...

Thank you Gigi's cupcakes. You will always make that day bearable!! ;)

Hope you have a blessed night!
Lots of love...
P.S. - my boys are both asleep right now and they look like absolute angels! How come they are so sweet when they are sleeping!!??

The Night I Became A Blonde!

Many of you know I am a true brunette! Always have been, always will be. BUT on Halloween night things changed! This is the fun thing about Halloween. We can dress up, change the way we look and then go back to the way they were! ;)
Our original plans for Halloween were to be pirates! Ever since Disney, Jagger has been obsessed with Pirates of the Caribbean. While  on the  Pirates ride he was already asking to be a pirate for Halloween. In my mind, I was  thinking this would be awesome and super easy! We even picked up some cute accessories from the Pirates of the Caribbean store! I am all about themes for Halloween so I thought we could just all dress up as pirates and call it good. The next day I ran to Wal-Mart and just happen to find pirate costumes in each of our sizes. This never happens and they were the last ones left, so I knew it was meant to be! ;)
Our church does Trunk or Treat, and we had signed up to do a trunk. At first I was thinking we could throw together a quick pirate trunk to go along with the pirate costumes!. I was so happy that I was ahead of the game and prepared. Well four days before Halloween, Matthew and I were talking about Trunk or Treat and decided that the pirate thing might not be the best, so we thought we would scratch the idea. I was really stressing out because what could we throw together with only 4 days left, and Wal-Mart had nothing left! The Halloween isle is officially Christmas now! I had given up and thought we could just bring our hay and other fall decorations to use for our trunk. Problem fixed..still wasn't sure about costumes! Matthew and I were eating lunch and he says, "I want to dress up as Bro. Ed". I started cracking up. Matthew: No, I am serious. I want to dress up as Ed.  Me: Ok...I will dress up as his wife Judy!!   I was so excited.  This would be so easy and I knew we had all the stuff to pull it off. We thought we would surprise them with the idea. We mentioned to a few people and they thought it was great!!
Halloween day came and I was so excited about getting ready for Trunk or Treat! I couldn't wait for the reaction!  Jagger decided he still wanted to be a pirate and Hudson was not feeling costumes!! This year I did not do a good job with the kids. Jagger didn't want pictures made so guess what? I didn't get any good pictures of the kids! (the pictures I do have are what we took when we were trying on costumes and what my bff took of my kids!) Mom of the year award for me! :)

Halloween day -school party!

Trunk or Treat: Bro Ed and Judy!!

The real Ed and Judy

The reactions were priceless!! It is probably the most fun I have ever had dressing up!! Hudson was not sure what to think of me as a blonde!! I think I will stick to brown hair! :)
The rest of the night was spent eating, and visiting with friends and family!

*Prayer request-  I need all of my prayer warriors to stop and say a prayer for a family that is very dear to my heart! My very close friend, Mrs. Janet, is needing lots of prayers. Her grandson, Jack is going to need surgery on his heart. He was born a few weeks ago, and a couple of days after he was born they found the hole. They are taking him today to be evaluated for surgery! Please keep this precious family in your prayers!!

Hope everyone has a blessed day!
Lots of love..

Remembering Halloween

Ghosts, pumpkins, costumes, and of course candy!! I am not a huge Halloween fan, but since I have had kids, I will say that its more fun! Halloween in my book basically means we are that much closer to Christmas! ;)
Halloween has changed so much over the years! I have been sitting here thinking about what Halloween was like when I was little- 25-26 years ago.... I laugh because just like everything, I think Halloween is overdone. What happen to just putting on a costume and going trick or treating???  Times have for sure changed. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy all the fun things that come along with each holiday. Treat bags, homemade treats for school, "spooking" our friends, making sure we have the most creative costumes, etc... This is Halloween now, but here is how I remember Halloween...

*Back then I don't remember creative costumes. You went to the store and picked out what favorite character you wanted to be! The costume came with a very uncomfortable plastic mask with a string that went around the back of your head. The body of the costume was basically a printed bag that you put over your body??? That's creative... I called mom to ask her what is when I was younger. She said Tweety Bird and Alf!! I couldn't help but laugh! Alf!  Who remembers Alf?

Kind of creepy huh?? and why Alf and Tweety Bird? I wasn't normal!

*Candy bags- Now we get our kids candy bags made. They are super cute with their names on them and some sort of design on the front. Or we spend a ton of money to make sure the bag matches their costume, thank you Pottery Barn! When I was a kid we did things simple...Your candy went in this..
I know they have them now but they come in every color and with different faces!! All I remember was one color, and you didn't get a new one every year unless the handle broke, then you could use a Wal-Mart sack! ;)

*Candy- the best part of Halloween! I remember being so excited about getting candy! We would go to door to door. We didn't have trunk or treat to do. It was just the old school way... Walk up to the door. Knock. Me: Trick or Treat! (and my mom made me say, Trick or Treat!! I can't stand when people let their kids come to the door just to hold the bag out! Come on people at least say trick or treat!) Anyways, by the end of the night my bucket was overflowing. I couldn't hardly wait to run home and dump it all out to see all of my loot! I would be super happy until my eyes saw theses...
Yuck!! I never did like these and still dont!! My heart was set on hersheys, milky way....well, basically anything chocolate!

There was not much to Halloween when I was a kid. We dressed up, went trick or treating, came home to check out the candy, then went to bed! Nothing exciting. Here are a few more things that bring back Halloween memories!

What are some of your Halloween memories??
Lots of love
